you don't have to be cool to rule my world

It just hit me that fall has officially started a couple days ago. And you know what that means... layering season! While Southern California is just slowlyI mean, slooowlygetting out of its Indian Summer phase at the moment, rest assured, the warm temps don't stop me from jumping the sartorial gun and breaking out my earthy-colored pieces, light knits, embroidered denim, and ankle booties. I certainly don't mind layering clothes as a buffer for cold mornings in the meantime... even if it does somehow feel as if I'm carrying laundry on my arms by the afternoon. Hey, it was fun while it lasted!

sunday sundaze

Wearing | jumpsuit c/o Sugarlips • Nollie cardigan c/o PacSun • Forever 21 floppy fedora • gold bracelet + bag c/o Romwe • Dexter sandals • sunglasses c/o 80's Purple

Betcha didn't expect to see this onesie with an aztec cardigan! The marriage of florals and graphic horizontal patterns has been my favorite mix-and-match combo for the longest time, it's almost as if they never left the honeymoon phase. I'm a firm believer in "opposites attract" and they're like the Bonnie and Clyde of print-mixing for me. While these two partners in crime are rarely ever a calm or subtle pairing, the pajama-like silhouette of this floor-grazing jumpsuit says otherwise. Slipped on some sandals, resorted to a floppy brim, and threw on some '70s-inspired sunglasses to further exude that luxe hippie, anything-goes spirit!

rosy

Wearing | sweater c/o SheInside • Bullhead Black jeans c/o PacSun • Forever 21 headband • boots from GoJane • gold bracelet c/o Romwe • sunglasses c/o 80's Purple

I own sooooo(not exaggerating)ooooo much floral print that I'm almost convinced they've become a part of my identity. I keep telling myself to stop picking clothes with flowers on them, convincing myself that I'm sick of them, and then another piece comes along that's suddenly beyond my self-control to resist. I even devoted a section of my closet to flowery pieces and it's quite the garden. Don't say I didn't warn you months ago! Nonetheless, I decided to stick with the vintage vibe of this rosy sweater by pairing it with these distressed light-washed jeans from PacSun's Bullhead Black denim line. Soul-mate pieces, if you ask me!

clean and crisp

I don't know if it's because I'm looking for a clean slate or I'm feeding off all the achromatic looks prominently trending throughout many of the recent collections at NYFW (see: Alexander Wang, BCBG Max Azria, Diesel Black Gold, Jason Wu, Narciso Rodriguez), but it does seem like it's always near the end of every season that I unplug from all that is on the more saturated end of the color spectrum and fall for everything black and white for awhile. Designers are playing the "opposite game" on the Spring/Summer 2013 runways and the best part is, I don't have to wait months this time to play along!
