Today is the last part of my Jewel Tone collaboration with Lulu's—channeling a casual Christmas look and ending the series strong with Pantone's color of the year for 2013: emerald green. Okay, so I think you can all tell by now that I'm a gold digger. Seriously. I adore traditional gold to bits. Anything with even the slightest hint of it gives me a little burst of joy. I know it's incredibly overdone during the holidays, but I have a reserved seat as a VIP gold member on the bandwagon and I refuse to get off! But you know, sometimes it's good to switch it up a bit with different variations of the hue. Burnished gold? Eh. White gold? What's that? A fancy name for silver? Rose gold? With my love for roses? Absolutely! In the color of Long Island winter sunsets, this pale copper metal is an undeniably luxe and feminine alternative. And I don't know about you, but the perfectionist in me hates mixing gold and silver together. If I'm wearing a gold watch, I MUST wear all gold accessories. Same goes for silver watches. But rose gold watches? They complement all types of metallics! I'm a firm believer in equal opportunity and this watch I'm wearing here in rose gold just makes it easier for me to invite guests into my arm parties. Round three of Jewel Tones with Lulu's! I wore this ma-gem-ta dress to a semi-casual dinner party the other night and threw on this baggy cardigan to play the whole outfit down. On another note, I've awed over this horse-embellished clutch ever since I saw the cat version of it in one of Natalie's outfit posts, so you bet I hit "add to cart" the second I saw this on sale on ASOS a few weeks ago. Now, if only they had one with foxes... my life would be complete.

Slightly depressed that the semester has ended. For a hot minute, I almost considered changing my major from fashion merchandising to journalism because of the impact my English class has made on me. Passionate professors who teach with lighthearted humor, empathy, and sole purpose will always make going to school worthwhile. But they say that all beginnings dwell a magical force and to say the least, the start of my winter break has been pretty darn fabulous so far. Hello, seven whole weeks of liberation!

Part two of Jewel Tones with Lulu's! Paired this sapphire blue skirt with a velvet bralette and outerwear that was undeniably inspired by Helmut Lang's "Sugar" jacket. I stuck to the design house's signature downtown minimalist look and went with all solids and clean cuts here. Definitely a step away from my usual woven knits and tons of texture mixing.

Let's face it, nothing's spared from sparkle around this time of the year when all that shimmers and shines bask in their holiday glory. And no, I'm not talking about sequins or glitter or metallics or sparkling champagne, but gems and jewels! With that said, I've teamed up with one of my favorite sites, lulus.com, for a month-long series where I will be showcasing a new jewel-toned piece every Tuesday of December! Today's focus is on this scarf in an opalent shade of rust. Somehow, this rich red-orange hue always awakens my bohemian soul, giving every outfit a fiery color splash. Who says you gotta resemble a disco ball stand out?
